In August 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was signed into law to lower healthcare costs, reduce prescription drug spending, and address inflation through healthcare, tax, and energy reforms. Beginning in 2025, the IRA includes a provision that caps annual out-of-pocket prescription drug costs at $2,000 for beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage or in standalone Medicare Part D plans.
